A Podcast Is Talking To Death

In this special edition of Gone Clear, Ralph Pritchard and Gloria Dawson read out two pieces of writing, one by June Jordan, the other by Hélène Cixous, and think about how art and politics engage with death and are informed by the dead. Discussion begins at approx 20mins.

  1. interesting that chic lit doesn't count as art but pop/dance music gets in because it "enables people to be in themselves". Occured to me that there's a paradox in that the "being in themselves" experience is arguably connected to "being more than themelves/outside of themselves" through connection with other people experiencing the same thing, in the same place, at the same time. Although going on that definition, you might have to broaden your definitio to cover Justin Bieber concerts, chic lit fan events/screenings etc. Mmmm.... time for some Adorno?!
